During the therapy process, I assist clients in discovering their strengths, building support systems, and developing a healthy lifestyle to set the foundation for life success. I also incorporate clients' spiritual beliefs into the treatment protocol to holistically address their needs.
I can provide a safe and supportive space to discuss your concerns, validate your experiences, and help you develop strategies for coping with anxiety, depression, or other mental health concerns.
I am particularly focused on and concerned with the impact of loss, grief, and trauma to support trauma recovery for better emotional, physical, and relationship health.
I hold a Master's in Clinical Psychology with 32+ years of experience as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, with an emphasis on helping individuals and families with difficult life circumstances. Specifically, as a substance abuse therapist, I have helped many in the area of addiction. I have been trained in the Matrix Model, which is an evidence-based substance abuse recovery model. In addition, I have helped many families with substance abuse interventions to help their loved ones get into treatment.
I utilize techniques from a variety of theoretical orientations with a collaborative and directive approach. I am invested in an approach emphasizing a more integrative, dynamic, and holistic approach to mental health. I have completed Fluence's Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy training. Unlike other substances, psychedelics are not addictive. Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy has been shown to increase openness to new experiences and perspectives, which can be helpful in the context of substance abuse treatment. Clients may be more willing to explore and address underlying issues that contribute to substance use and more open to considering alternative coping strategies. Additionally, Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy is a more holistic approach to treatment for depression, anxiety, and trauma.
I take an action-oriented CBT approach that focuses on the relationship between your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. Through identifying unhelpful patterns of thinking, we can determine what has led you to feel unhappy, overwhelmed, stressed, angry, frustrated, or hopeless. By addressing these patterns, we can work together to develop more constructive ways of approaching these areas that will lead to healthier behaviors for solving problems and learn to replace less effective coping skills with positive ones that enhance your life.
Substance Abuse Intervention
A substance abuse intervention is a planned and structured process where friends and/or family come together to confront an individual struggling with substance abuse in an effort to encourage them to seek treatment.
The goal of a substance abuse intervention is to encourage the individual to seek treatment and support their journey toward recovery. Approach the process with compassion, empathy, and a focus on their well-being.
It is important to note that substance abuse interventions can be emotionally charged and complex. It is recommended to seek guidance from a professional substance abuse therapist to ensure the process is conducted safely and effectively.
