Entertainment Industry Therapy
Entertainment Industry Therapy
We have the specialized understanding and expertise necessary to provide tailored support for the entertainment industry. In fact, 30% of our therapists have worked in the industry themselves, while many continue to consult for television and film studios, providing psychological insight on scripts and running mental wellness webinars for teams.
We recognize these pressures and understand how important it is for clients to have a therapeutic partner who "gets it"—someone who not only listens but knows the industry's landscape intimately. Whether you're an actor portraying complex, emotionally charged scenes, a writer navigating storylines that reflect your own experiences, or an executive balancing a production schedule with personal commitments, our therapists bring an empathetic, knowledgeable approach. They provide support through a variety of therapy modalities designed to help you build resilience, regain balance, and foster a healthier relationship with your work and personal life.

Understanding the Entertainment Industry's Unique Challenges
On-Set Stress, Trauma, and Burnout
The entertainment industry operates within its own culture, language, and rhythm, and the expectations of this fast-paced world can be intense and unpredictable. Public highs and lows, creative blocks, rigorous schedules, and the challenges of maintaining a work-life balance are just a few examples of the daily pressures faced by creatives and executives. The environment encourages nonstop work that can leave individuals feeling emotionally drained and mentally exhausted, often leading to burnout.
Working in the entertainment industry often requires handling high levels of stress and occasional exposure to trauma. Long hours on set, demanding deadlines, and intimate scenes can create difficult experiences that leave lasting effects. Additionally, scenes that portray traumatic material, such as violence or intense emotional breakdowns, can sometimes leave actors feeling emotionally "stuck" or raw, impacting their mental well-being long after the scene is over.
We provide a safe space to unpack these experiences, allowing clients to explore feelings of stress, anxiety, and trauma in a secure environment. Our therapists use evidence-based techniques to help clients process emotions, develop healthy coping strategies, and implement stress management techniques tailored to their unique situations. From actors to writers and production staff, everyone in the industry deserves support that recognizes the emotional toll of their work. Our aim is to empower individuals to build resilience, process trauma effectively, and cultivate a sense of balance amid a highly demanding career.
The Impact of Career Demands on Relationships
For many in the entertainment industry, personal relationships become strained under the weight of career demands. Whether it's being away from home on location, juggling multiple projects, or feeling constantly "on call," many of our clients struggle to be present with loved ones. In some cases, this also hinders their ability to form meaningful relationships, as the boundaries between work and life blur.
In therapy, we work with clients to prioritize self-care and develop strategies for staying present with loved ones, even amid a busy schedule. We provide tools to help advocate for personal needs, set boundaries with work, and find more intentional ways to nurture relationships. By supporting clients in learning effective communication skills and balancing career with personal life, our therapists empower them to find fulfillment both on and off the job.
Leading the Charge for Intimacy Coordinators
We are strong advocates for the role of intimacy coordinators in the entertainment industry, recognizing their pivotal contribution to maintaining mental and emotional well-being on set. Intimate or vulnerable scenes—such as those involving nudity, romantic contact, or emotionally charged material—can be challenging for actors, even triggering past traumas. An intimacy coordinator ensures that these scenes are handled with the utmost respect, safety, and professionalism, setting clear boundaries and establishing protocols to protect everyone involved. By maintaining open communication and fostering a respectful environment, these coordinators create a set culture where actors feel empowered to express concerns and receive the support they need.
Since 2019, our dedicated wellness coach and two of our therapists have actively participated in Mental Health First Aid response and intimacy coordination training. This specialized training equips our team with the skills to support actors and crew during challenging scenes, offering immediate guidance, emotional support, and, if needed, on-the-spot interventions. Their experience also enables them to train others in these essential skills, further promoting safe, trauma-informed practices across the industry. Our ongoing commitment to intimacy coordination reflects our mission to improve mental health in the entertainment industry, ensuring that all professionals on set feel respected, safe, and mentally supported.
